ADTH 1433 Special Topics: The Way and the Word: Christianity Encounters China

This course explores encounters between Christianity and the religious and philosophical traditions of China. It pays particular attention to the Three Teachings of China: Confucianism, Taoism, and Chinese Buddhism. In the course, students examine foundational texts, religious practices, and theological concepts to consider how Chinese and Christian traditions have historically come into contact from the first arrival of missionaries to contemporary encounters. Together, we will imagine how these traditions might enter into further constructive dialogue.
