Intro to Programming using Swift for iOS App Development
In this fast-paced course, you'll learn the Swift programming language and iOS app development. Using a flipped-classroom approach, each week you'll watch several online lectures and complete code-along assignments to learn programming concepts and build apps. Class time will include brief lectures but will focus on fun, hands-on challenges that apply each weeks video lessons. Although the course is flipped, its rigorous attendance is mandatory (this is not an online course). You'll be assessed through in-class, hands-on exams and an independent project where you design and build a fully functioning app yes, you can do it! Students must bring a fully charged Mac laptop with the latest version of Apples free Xcode software installed. (Confirm you have access to a Mac that meets these requirements before enrolling.) No programming background is required, and the course is open to all BC students, regardless of year or school. Past students have called it one of the most rewarding if at times challenging courses they've taken. Graduate students take the course alongside undergraduates. The course counts toward the Lynch Schools MA in Learning, Design, and Technology. While Lynch graduate students have performed well, MBA students should note that the class requires a substantial weekly time commitment. Students with full-time jobs have often found the workload challenging, so it may not be the best fit for those currently working or unaccustomed to the rigor of an undergraduate technology course.STEM-Designated
