CHEM 5531 Modern Methods in Organic Synthesis I

Survey and analysis of reactions employed in the synthesis of medicinally significant compounds. An in-depth understanding of the mechanistic details for each transformation will be emphasized. Topics will relate fundamental structural and electronic properties to issues of chemical reactivity. An emphasis will be placed on carbon-carbon bond and ring forming reactions. Students must have taken an Organic Chemistry II course, such asCHEM2231 or CHEM2012 or CHEM2241.
