CSCI 7771 Foundations of Modern Computing Systems

Students in this course explore how all aspects of modern computing systems fit together to support higher-level applications and algorithms. The foundations of operating systems, parallel computing, and distributed systems will be covered. Students gain practical experience working with system-level code and several forms of concurrent programming including multi-threaded software, GPU frameworks, and distributed computing platforms. Coursework includes both theoretical and empirical analysis of various solutions. Prerequisites: CSCI2271 Computer Systems (or equivalent) and CSCI3383 Algorithms (or equivalent).
