Public Relations and the Environment
This course may be used to satisfy one of four electives required within the Communication major. Climate change is one of humanity's most pressing problems. It's also a massive communications challenge. Climate issues are highly complex, replete with jargon, misinformation, and numerous other obstacles that can lead to people becoming overwhelmed or apathetic. This course will enable students to make sense of this complex communications environment, equipping them with two main things: 1) the foundation to become critical climate thinkers; and 2) the ability to craft public relations strategies, stories, and messages that move people to act. The class will be taught through a dynamic blend of interactive lecture, discussion, presentations, workshops, and guest speakers
