Adaptations

We'll explore the translation of source materials like books, plays, video games, toys, and tweets into film and television through a "cinematically minded" lens, contextualizing the current IP frenzy in Hollywood. Together we'll identify particular moments as highly cinematic or highly uncinematic, opportunities and challenges we predict in translating this content. We'll pitch strategies and ideas for filming, complete with storyboarding and props. We'll watch films and discuss tactics used to present complex, abstract elements. All the while, we'll discuss: what qualities make a piece of audiovisual media truly memorable?
