HIST 2521 The Deep Past: History, Biology, Culture
Fulfills the LAMA Requirement for History Majors and Minors Making fire. Hunting. Fishing. Foraging. Playing. Singing. Dancing. Storytelling. Worshiping. Reaching backward beyond the written word, Deep History begins its narrative with human origins. The ways in which our bodies are shaped and our brains developed has left an indelible mark on how humans have interacted with the world and built cultures across the globe. But what makes us kin also makes us very, VERY different from one another, not just as individuals, but as cultures. In this course, we will plumb the deep past for clues to understanding our very different human histories.
