Seminar: Early Modern (European) History

This seminar offers graduate students working in the early modern period (1400-1800) the opportunity to complete original research and writing in this field. To maintain continuity with previous iterations of this seminar, the European context will retain a degree of focus. But those interested in other world regions will be welcome. Through shorter writing exercises, shared readings (to be determined by the particular group's needs), and regular workshopping of drafts-in progress, we will approach our final goal of crafting a publishable article. Some participants may wish to submit their polished essays to a journal; others may prefer to reserve their work for later use as a writing sample for applications to doctoral or other graduate programs, incorporation into an MA thesis or dissertation, or as a piece to share in a public-facing venue.
