INTL 2312 Global Environmental Justice

Global Environmental Justice examines how environmental harm is unevenly produced across the world and how communities contest it. Centering cases from the Global South and beyond, the course asks how race, caste, gender, colonialism, militarization, racial capitalism, and extractivism shape geographies of toxicity, vulnerability, and survival. Students move across regionsfrom Latin America to South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the Arctic, and the Pacificwhile connecting concrete struggles to larger structures of state and corporate power. Especially compelling for Boston College students interested in justice, interdisciplinary inquiry, and the common good, the course combines theory, discussion, film, and research to analyze environmental crises with rigor, ethics, and global perspective.
