MCEN 1201 Lit Core: Love, Hate, and What Lies Between

This course examines love as a complex ethical, cultural, and social construct, situating it within broader questions of community, identity, and power. Through the study of literary texts drawn from diverse historical periods and cultural contexts, we will analyze how love is defined, represented, and regulated across time and place. We will especially focus on the ways in which love both reflects and shapes systems of belonging, exclusion, and solidarity at multiple levels of social connection, from the interpersonal to the global.
