Paris: Doing Business in a Global World. A Simulation

Do you want to work abroad, learn about international business, or become an international executive? Do you want to know about French industries, companies, and their culture? That's perfect! "Doing business in a global world. A simulation" will give you the opportunity to manage a company in a global context. Previous business experience or management courses are a plus, but are not required. That is because we will use an "experiential learning simulation" to help you navigate the decision-making process in the simulation and acquire the essential knowledge you need to manage the business. The only requisites are curiosity and basic analytic skills (Excel) to forecast demand and analyze markets. The simulation is a fun, competitive, and engaging experience where you will learn the fundamentals of managing a business in product development, marketing, sales, production, and finance. The competition is team-based. Thus, it presents an excellent opportunity to learn from each other and, simultaneously, to walk around Paris to learn more about its history, markets, and contributions to the modern world. We will undertake team projects in industries where France has a notable presence, such as fashion, food, energy, transportation, and tourism. Additionally, we will study the evolution of trade in the world, highlighting the role played by France and the US, and the challenges of globalization. The course offers a historical trade perspective, analyzing France's key industries and companies, such as fashion, transportation, and energy, as well as the evolution of trade, which is evident in the city and will be the focus of our visits.
