MLSC 6640 National Security: Law, Policy & Government Investigations

The study of National Security includes many sub-topics and this course will focus on three core elements: Law, Policy, and Government Investigations. National Security Law, Policy, and Government Investigations begins with a discussion of the United States' separation of powers and war powers. The course will next examine international law, the use of military force, and the law of armed conflict. The focus will then turn to the criminal process, the prosecution of terrorists in various forums such as military commissions, as well as the power to detain. The protection of vital national security information, economic sanctions, terrorist financing, emerging technologies, and domestic security operations will round out the study of this field.
