MUSA 2360 DJs Past & Present

DJs move us. Spinning music on air and bewitching legions on the dance floor, they wield immense power over pop culture. In this course, you will study the history of DJing practice from its earliest days in 1920s radio station booths through its takeover of dance club culture across the globe. Together, we will visit Boston Colleges very own student-run radio station, interview current practicing DJs, and witness a live club DJs set. By studying these enigmatic tastemakers, you will gain a newfound understanding of the history of recorded sound and how its been used to make us groove.
