NURS 7010 Direct Entry Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Theory
This course focuses on the nursing care of individuals across the lifespan with psychiatric illness and mental health needs. Relevant theories from nursing and other disciplines, research, and evidence-based guidelines related to mental health are examined. Holistic, person/family-centered approaches to promote, restore and maintain mental health and wellness are integrated. Psychopharmacology and psychosocial treatment modalities are emphasized to promote high quality, safe, cost-sensitive care. Biopsychosocial, cultural, legal and ethical factors influencing mental health and wellness are explored.
