NURS 7531 Just and Equitable Care of the Whole Person

This course introduces nursing-informed ways of knowing and unique disciplinary perspective to provide person-centered care. Approaches introduced include communication, trauma-informed care, development, accessibility, sexual orientation, gender identity, racialized clinical care, and the social determinants of health, which are interrelated with concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students will explore, synthesize, and convey the physical, behavioral, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of diverse patient populations across the lifespan. Strategies to improve person-centered care to end healthcare disparities are introduced. Emphasis is placed on professional behavior, care of the whole person, reflective practice, and self-care.
