PHIL 6230 The Socratic Aporia Dialogues

Aporia in the Platonic dialogues: Aporia is the Platonic Socrates term for being at a loss, not knowing and recognizing that you do not know. Many Platonic dialogues end in aporia. We shall examine a number of them, including the Charmides, Apology, and Theaetetus, to see how Socrates transforms the negative event of aporia into an achievement.
