SOCY 3089 The Business of Flourishing: Culture, Markets, and the Pursuit of Wellness
How do you pursue wellness? You track your sleep, follow influencers, download apps, buy supplements. But does it make you flourish? This seminar turns your life into a field site. We investigate the $6.8 trillion wellness economy, from morning routines on social media to the science of happiness, and ask who profits, who gets left out. You will not just read about flourishing. You will run experiments, map it, and build a fake wellness brand. By the end, you will understand the good life sold to you, the many ways people chase it, and how to build it together.
