Critical Sociology in a Time of Planetary Peril: Power, Control, and Resistance

This seminar explores challenges facing critical sociology in a time of resurgent racisms, planetary climate crisis, high-tech warfare, global economic inequality, digital cultural dominance, anti-feminism, anti-queerness, religious nationalism, and populist authoritarian governance. Seminar participants will be asked to engage with a variety of critical theoretical texts and with scholarship aimed at the pursuit of social justice.
