Black Feminisms: Power, Praxis, and Possibilities

This course explores the history and development of Black feminism and womanism within and beyond sociology. We will examine how Black feminist thought has shaped sociological research, transforming the study of race, gender, sexuality, class, and power. Attention will also be given to key debates within Black feminism and intersectional theory, including questions of identity, methodology, political strategy, and coalition building across difference and global contexts.
