Inquisitions: How Knowledge became Power, became Weapon
Conducted in Spanish and fulfills the Pre-1800 Peninsular Literature and Culture requirement for HS majors. Theoretical and historical study of the inquisitions, from the medieval episcopal inquisitions established ad hoc and the Calvinist Consistories to the colonial, global institution of the Spanish Inquisition. Discussion based on primary sources (legal and literary) and contemporary critical thought (biopolitics, power-knowledge, archives, memory).
