THEO 5379 Philosophically Religious in the 21st century.

This course explores the continuing unfolding of the concept of religion in philosophers and theologians of the twentieth and twenty-first century. The course begins with the interpretation of Pauls Epistles as found in Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Giorgio Agamben before moving into the non-religious embrace of the religious as found in Heidegger, Derrida, Jean-Luc Nancy and others. The course concludes with the work of some of the most significant contemporary writers moving back to theology, including Jean-Luc Marion, Sarah Coakley, Judith Wolfe, and Immanuel Falque.
