Biography
Macauley Kenney is an Entrepreneur in Residence and Lecturer at the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, where she founded and directs Researcher2Entrepreneur (R2E), a commercialization program for PhD researchers and postdocs, and directs delta v, MIT's capstone startup accelerator. She also teaches at MIT Sloan and MIT D-Lab. She comes to the classroom as a hardware operator. As COO of SurgiBox, she led development of an ultraportable operating room from prototype through manufacturing and regulatory approval, with work spanning design for manufacturing, quality systems, and field user research, and served as Principal Investigator on a $2.5M SBIR Phase II with U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command. Earlier, she co-founded Kumwe Logistics and scaled operations across four countries at a previous startup. Her teaching treats prototyping as a decision-making tool: building the cheapest possible thing that answers the riskiest open question, and running customer discovery with the same rigor as an engineering test. She holds an M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
