Biography
Mark Cooper is Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Studio Art at Boston College, and is an internationally recognized artist known for large-scale and site-specific installations and public works. His commissions and grants vary from Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a Gund Grant, Daynard Grant, and an Open Society Fellowship among others. He has had major exhibitions at the National Museum of Fine Arts Hanoi, Vietnam, the University of Fine Arts, the DaNang Museum of Fine Art, Vietnam, the Doris Duke Mansion Museum, the Yuan Art Museum, the Kemper Museum, Kansas City, Lesley University, Cambridge, MA, as well as the Whitney Museum at Philip Morris, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, the Corcoran Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Peabody Essex Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the City Museum of Paris, France, the Westlicht Museum in Vienna, Austria and in over one hundred individual and group international exhibitions. He has also published the book Making Art Together: How Collaborative Art-Making Can Transform Kids, Classrooms, and Communities.
