Biography
SuMing Sullivan (she/they), DSW, LICSW, is an assistant professor of the practice at the Boston College School of Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Massachusetts and New York, a clinical supervisor, and the founder of a private practice in Arlington, Massachusetts, focusing on relational systems, couples, multi-generational families, and individuals. Professor Sullivan specializes in culturally attuned attachment theory, critical theory, and liberatory practice. Her clinical and scholarly focus includes extensive work with Asian Americans, mixed-race adults, and couples navigating historical and relational trauma. Her doctoral research examined the nuanced experiences of estrangement within Asian American families and its impact on racialized identity. Additionally, she has significant clinical experience in supporting Cambodian-American refugees and their descendants.
