EESC 1132 Exploring the Earth
The Earth is a dynamic planet that our species is clearly changing. A great challenge of the twenty-first century is to maintain the Earth's ability to support its growing human population. This course discusses the origin and materials of the Earth and the processes by which it has evolved. It is a first course for Geological Sciences majors and also provides a background for departmental majors and minors. EESC1132 is appropriate as a natural science core course for students interested in the Earth Sciences. The laboratory consists of in-class exercises, analysis of rocks, and a weekend field trip. This course is limited to Earth and Environmental Science and Environmental Studies majors and minors, as well as first-year students considering those degrees, or by permission of the instructor.
