LAWS 6698 Private Investment Funds: Formation & Operation
Private investment funds, including venture capital funds, buyout funds and credit funds, have become a cornerstone of modern finance. This course, which closely tracks the law firm training program developed by the instructors over the past 20 years, introduces students to the formation and marketing of these investment funds. We will explore the competing interests of fund sponsors (GPs) and fund investors (LPs), and discuss how to advise fund sponsors on the types of issues that arise during the life of a fund. Reading materials will mostly consist of contractual documents and articles written by practitioners.
