What's new
Recent changes to Linden Study: courses, professors, majors, the job board, and the site itself. Last updated September 25, 2026.
September 25, 2026
- Site — The home page shows everything Linden Study does. Below the search box, the home page now explains course and professor search, majors and minors, on-campus jobs, and the academic calendar, with links straight to the job-alert signup and the final-exam finder. It also links the course, department, and professor directories, with how many each lists.

- Professors — Professor pages link every course they teach. Each course on a professor page now opens that course's page and shows this instructor's official Boston College rating for it, with the number of responses behind it. Professors without a published biography no longer get a note saying so; the page simply shows their teaching record.
- Courses — Course pages show their evaluation record. Each course page now carries its official Boston College course evaluations term by term and instructor by instructor, with the number of students who responded, beneath the course and instructor ratings. Prerequisite and requirement links now go straight to the right course or program page, and every page links to the course, department, professor, major and minor directories.
- Jobs — The job board is checked every three hours. The Jobs page now re-reads Boston College's on-campus job board every three hours instead of once a day. Job alert emails still come only when something you watch changed, and are sent only between 8 AM and 6 PM Boston time; changes found overnight arrive together at 8 AM.
- Courses — Search opens with the most-evaluated courses. The course list now starts with the courses the most students have taken and evaluated, such as Principles of Economics and Financial Accounting, instead of a page of rarely taken courses with perfect scores. The other sort options are unchanged.
- Site — Send feedback from the Contact page. The Contact page has a form for data corrections, broken pages, feature ideas, and privacy or accessibility requests. Pick a topic, write what you saw, and add an email address only if you'd like a reply. Messages are read by the site's developer and are never published.
- Site — A one-row header on phones. On a phone the logo and the Search, Majors, Jobs and Calendar tabs now share one row; the home page and the Search tab carry the search box.

- Courses — Pick the instructor and section right in the results. A search result row now opens the course from anywhere on the card, including the course code. Next to the professor's name a menu lists everyone teaching the course this term with their BC rating and time slot; picking one changes the rating and meeting time shown, and a second menu chooses the section when that instructor teaches at more than one time. The professor's name opens their page, and coming back finds the same search, the same rows, and the same picks.
- Site — New heading face and a home-page index. Headings are set in Source Serif 4. The home page reveals its pieces one after another and lists the four sections of the site as a numbered index under the search box.
September 14, 2026
- Jobs — Job alerts are on, and the emails look like the site. Alerts now send from jobalerts@linden.study. The confirmation and the daily digest arrive as a designed message with a plain-text copy: one card, the listings as rows with office, class, pay and hours, a button to the board, and an Unsubscribe button in the footer. Gmail and Yahoo also get a one-click unsubscribe in their own toolbar.

- Site — Find your final exam on the calendar page. Type a course code on the Calendar page, pick your section, and read the exam slot the Registrar's grid gives it, with a note on whether that slot is printed for the section's meeting pattern or inferred. Sections the grid cannot place say why. One button adds the slot to your Google Calendar.
- Jobs — A place to ask for job-board alerts. The job board has a signup for a daily email digest of listings that opened, closed or changed, limited to Boston College addresses and confirmed by email.
- Site — Academic calendar and final exam slots. A Calendar tab lists every date on Boston College's academic calendar, with the registration and half-term dates, and the Registrar's final exam grid. Each course page now shows the exam slot for each of its sections, read from the section's meeting pattern, and says when a slot was inferred rather than printed.
- Courses — Courses taught at several times say so. A course with sections at different times is marked "Multiple times" in search results and in the course header instead of quoting one section's slot. The time filters match a course when any of its sections fits.
- Majors — Nineteen more majors opened. English, History, Philosophy, Communication, Sociology, International Studies, African and African Diaspora Studies, Classics, French, Hispanic Studies, Italian, German Studies, Russian, Slavic Studies, Theatre, and the Lynch School's Applied Psychology and Human Development, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Transformative Educational Studies now have reviewed requirement paths. Every major listed on the majors page now opens.

- Jobs — Paging, grouped offices, and a payroll-class filter. The job board shows ten listings a page and groups Dining Services and the Libraries as single offices. A filter narrows listings by payroll class (B through F), with a note on what each class means.
- Jobs — Pay is weighed against the work. A listing's pay is now judged against the work it describes. A Class B rate for routine office work is neutral rather than a penalty, and a higher class for demanding work counts in its favor.
September 10, 2026
- Jobs — On-campus employment page. Boston College's student job board, refreshed daily, with cleaned-up descriptions, extracted contact details and links, and a plain-language score for each posting.
- Professors — Ratings come from BC course evaluations only. The RateMyProfessors layer was removed. Each rating shows its response count and the basis it was calculated from.
- Professors — 1,029 faculty profiles. Biographies, portraits, and CVs are read from department pages, and a long biography collapses to six lines. Placeholder instructor names (“Tf”, “Do not use”) no longer appear, and 27 duplicate name spellings were merged.
- Courses — Ratings snapshot moved into the course header. The course page puts the ratings snapshot in the header and retires the enrollment-trend chart.
- Majors — Required courses are no longer listed as electives. Courses a program requires, or that the Carroll School core requires, no longer appear among that program's electives.
September 6, 2026
- Professors — Faculty pages found in every people folder. Faculty pages are discovered in every people folder of a department site, and a professor split across two spellings is shown once.
- Site — A search bar in the header. The header has a search bar, and search results say “Boston College” where a searcher would read it.
August 30, 2026
- Courses — Search shows what is offered this term. Search shows what is actually offered this term, and an expanded requirement group stays expanded when you come back to it.
August 18, 2026
- Site — Server-rendered pages for crawlers. Crawlers get complete server-rendered pages and sitemaps for courses, professors, and programs.
August 2, 2026
- Majors — Program coverage expanded. Program coverage expanded to 40 majors and 21 minors.
